ALCOHOL
IMPOUNDING OFFICER PROCEDURES
Alcohol in open containers must be destroyed. If you seize the container, photograph
it before disposing of the alcohol (if container is transparent). Whenever
possible, mark the container at the level of the alcohol. Then dispose of the contents by pouring
it out.
See example board in the evidence processing area.
Complete an evidence label and attach it to the packaging.
Complete the property-evidence report. Indicate processing required, and if immediate disposal may occur after processing.
Place the properly (smallest possible) packaged evidence into
an evidence locker. Note the
location on the property-evidence report.
Place the property-evidence report (yellow and green copy) in the property-evidence basket in the evidence processing room.
BEER KEGS
1. If a beer keg is seized for any reason other then a felony
offense the following procedure must be completed:
a. Complete and attached an evidence
label.
b. Photograph the beer keg.
c. Place the photos and keg into
evidence (see photo submission).

Place the property-evidence report (yellow &
green) in the property-evidence basket in the Evidence Processing Room.
3.
The evidence officers will return the keg
to OLCC upon submission to evidence. Beer kegs are not held in
evidence.

STORAGE
Ensure proper packaging; refer to the example board in the evidence processing
areas.
Place one barcode on the item and the corresponding barcode on the property
receipt.
Place the item in a location best suited to the size of the article, and area
specified by the evidence room guide.
Using the barcode reader, scan the location of the shelf, and then scan the
barcode affixed to the item.
Place the item in chronological numerical order by case number.
DISPOSAL
Upon disposition, request authorization from investigating officer.
Upon expiration of statute of limitations, request authorization from the investigating officer.
Upon authorization
Pour the alcohol down the drain.
Dispose of empty cans and bottles in an appropriate manner.
Indicate on property receipt final disposition of alcohol.
