Explosives may not be submitted into property-evidence. However, Class C fireworks or firecrackers may be submitted for destruction only. Under no circumstances will property-evidence store any kind of explosive.
Request WCCCA to dispatch the Oregon State Police Explosives Unit for evaluation and pickup of all fireworks not allowed for submission to Property-Evidence.
IMPOUNDING OFFICER PROCEDURES
Bag and tag all Class C fireworks (mainly firecrackers, M-80’s, bottle rockets, and other fireworks that travel in the air).
Complete the property-evidence report. Note that items are for destruction only. Fireworks are not stored in the Property-Evidence area.
Place the properly packaged evidence into an evidence locker. Note the location on the property-evidence report.
Place the yellow and green copy of the property-evidence report in the property-evidence basket in the evidence processing room.
EVIDENCE OFFICER PROCEDURES
DISPOSAL:
Soak all fireworks in water outside of the building for at least one hour, then throw away and document the destruction.
