IMPOUNDING OFFICER PROCEDURES

  1. Remove halide bulbs from all grow shields and leave them at the scene.  This type of evidence will not be submitted due to the hazardous gas that will be released if the bulb is broken.  If there is a need to have them processed for fingerprints, process them at the scene.

  2. Each shield, ballast, etc. shall have its own item number.  If the items are not physically attached to each other, they shall be itemized separately.

  3. Complete the evidence tag and attach it to the packaging.  Use twist-on tags for grow shields and ballasts.

  4. Complete the property-evidence report.

  5. Place the equipment into a locker and note the location on the property-evidence report.  If equipment does not fit into a locker, place into vehicle bay.

  6. Place the yellow and green copy of the property-evidence report in the property-evidence basket in the evidence processing room.

EVIDENCE OFFICER PROCEDURES

STORAGE

  1. Ensure property packaging; refer to the example board in the evidence processing areas.

  2. Place one barcode on the item and the corresponding barcode on the property receipt.

  3. All grow equipment will be stored at WC-3.

DISPOSAL

  1. Upon authorization or disposition of the case, see ‘General Disposition of Items.'
