The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
from Tina Stacy
Columbia (GA) S.D.

As we let you know in the last issue, we are really interested in sharing property room successes. In some cases, those successes may be related to IAPE training.  In October of 1996, Tina Stacy and James Leonard of the Columbia County Sheriff 's Department, in Appling, Georgia, attended an IAPE training class.  They were looking for options for storing their property more efficiently.  Officer Stacy subsequently sent these three photos showing the gun/weapons room of their property facility.  The photo on the left was their starting point in October.  It may not be too bad, but it's certainly ugly.  The other two photos, taken two months later, show what can be done in a very short time frame.  They have every reason to be proud!

In the photo on
the right, note the dividers in the vertical long gun storage, which allows numbered locations for easier retrieval.

Note the standardized containers and appropriately sized shelving to the left.  The "year tags" posted on the end of the shelving show the color coding of the evidence tags for easy reference.
