On March 5-7, 1998, the California Association for Property and Evidence (CAPE) celebrated ten years of service to property officers in California and several other states. The conference was held in San Luis Obispo, CA, with almost 200 property officers, supervisors and managers attending the event. One of the most interesting workshops was presented by Special Agent Jeff Hayes of the FBI, who supervised the transportation and storage of the evidence collected at the Oklahoma City bombing. The following statistics describe activities which have taken place (so far) during that extensive investigation: 237,000 photographs have been taken and cataloged; 900 videotapes have been made and cataloged; 2,320 pieces of property have been collected as physical evidence; 1,000,000 hours of investigator's time have been expended; 43,000 leads have been followed up; 25,000 interviews have been conducted; 444,000 telephone records have been examined; and 1,500 pieces of evidence have been introduced into Federal court as evidence. So you think you have a lot of stuff! "Kwitcherbellyakin!" Copyright © 1998 International Association for Property and Evidence, Inc. Reprinted from the Evidence Log, Volume 1998, Number 1, Page 2 |
