Now Offers Sample Policy http://www.iape.org If you haven't been to the web site of the International Association for Property and Evidence lately, then you need to link up again. It continues to improve, and now has added a sample "Property and Evidence Policy". If your department doesn't have a written policy specifically dedicated to operation of a professional property and evidence unit, then a great way to start would be to download this sample policy and then modify it to meet your exact situation. We don't recommend implementing this policy "as is" because every Department is likely to have managers and legal advisors who want written policy to reflect their exact perspectives of legal interpretations, general department policy, and sometimes even specific procedures. This sample, however, still gives you a very solid framework on which to build your specific departmental policy regarding the handling of property and evidence. There are a number of other features on the IAPE web site that you won't
want to miss.
