A nice e-mail was received from Wendy Svaren, Property Officer with Lake Oswego Police Department (Portland area) in Oregon. Wendy has been involved over the past year in forming a state association (Oregon Association for Property & Evidence Officer's) as a subchapter of Oregon Peace Officer's Association. She is currently the President of the association, and wrote to plug their first training day, which is coming up on November 6th. It is combining fingerprint training, with an ATF presentation. At the same time, Wendy bragged about the newest addition to her Property Room. She was greeted with a live rattlesnake. She didn't tell us what kind of case, as she was fretting over how to barcode it, what shelf to put it on, etc. Best of luck, Wendy, but no cigar this issue. We had several entries from the Knoxville (TN) class back in July. Public Safety Officer James Graham of the Bristol (TN) Police Department has a huge supply of Dale Earnhardt t-shirts. Human fingertips are the proud possession of Property Clerk Connie Eggleton, of the Fairfield (OH) Police Department. Officer Bobby Solomon of the Knoxville (TN) Police Department has a tree trunk from a homicide, while Randolph County (lL) Sheriff's Evidence Technician Ed Warfield's homicide evidence includes part of a hand. Evidence Technician Danica Olmstead, from the Amador County (CA) Sheriff's Department attended the Burbank (CA) class in August, and her Property Room maintains a supply of vegetable soup made with antifreeze from a poisoning case. A high-quality runner-up this issue was Ann Loggains Evidence Technician for the Joplin (MO) Police Department. For about a year she had custody of a whole human body in a sealed, metal shipping box. When asked if it bothered her to have a body in evidence, she just replied that he was really quiet and didn't give her any trouble. The You will have to turn to page 33 [picture below] to see Tim's winner.
It is an amazing 3-wheel bicycle which was seized as an unlicensed sound
truck. The large black boxes on the back of the bike are huge woofer and
sub-woofer speaker enclosures, all driven by the car battery seen on the
left side. Congratulations, Tim, on having a property item that we have
never seen before!
