Certified Property & Evidence Specialist Letters and Comments William P. Kiley is President of Kiley Associates LLC, the testing administrator for the International Association for Property and Evidence (IAPE) Certified Property and Evidence Specialist program. Here Bill answers IAPE website inquiries and e-mail he has received at info@kileyassociates.com.
Mr. Kiley, I have been to two of your courses over a 4 year period. I am interested in your certification process, but was curious what type of testing questions are on the certification test. Would it be enough to review my old notebooks from previous classes to make sure I know the information that is on the test, or is it just common sense type questions regarding evidence and property management? Teresa Turner
Dear Ms. Turner, Thank you for your inquiry regarding the CPES exam. The test consists of fifty, multiple choice and True/False questions. All of the questions are based upon the IAPE New Standards (which can be found at: www.iape.org and then selecting the button for the New Standards). We hope that you will submit your application to become one of the growing number of Property and Evidence Professionals who are achieving the CPES designation. Sincerely, Bill Kiley
Administrative Technician Vicki Shafer, Huntersville (NC) Police Department made the following website COMMENT: I took your class a couple of years ago and have been implementing your
ideas and methods ever since. lam VERY interested in applying for certification
but am concerned over the "test" and the fact that it has been so long
since I took the class. Is there some advice you can offer as to a study
guide in preparation for the on-line test?
Bill Kiley replied: Visit our website at www.iape.org and go to the button that says "New Standards". At the top of the page is a link that will allow you to download 30 plus pages of standards - The test is based entirely on the new standards, so with a brief refresher, you should be ready to go. Of course, if you want to make a sales pitch to your boss that you should attend the class again to assist in the certification program, then best of luck to you!
Good Afternoon, Can you please advise where I can get information on the Basic Property and Evidence Course which is required for the CPES certification. I have been on the IAPE website and only been able to find information on the 2 day Management seminar - is that the same course? Kristine Allen, Evidence Technician
Ms. Allen, Thanks for your inquiry. The2-Day Basic Management Course is the required course for CPES certification. For further details on that course, please contact IAPE Executive Director Joe Latta at jlatta@iape.org.
