Same Problem - Different Generation A regular reader of The Evidence Log shared a story asking that it not
be identified with his/her agency. It seems that a citizen found an old
handgun without a serial number stored away in her garage, and wanted to
get rid of it. She brought it to the Police Department and turned it in
to the Property Room for destruction. She related that it didn't belong
to anyone in her household, but that her grandfather offered an explanation
about how it may have gotten there. He was a retired police officer from
that agency, and suggested that it might have been one "that I was supposed
to have gotten rid of from an old investigation." Hopefully this time the
firearm destruction will be more successful. Copyright © 2006 International Association for Property and Evidence, Inc. Reprinted from the Evidence Log, Volume 2004, Number 1, Page 26 |
