From POST - California, Police Officer Standards & Training, co-authored by
Lt. Joseph T. Latta (Ret). Guide focuses on property/evidence processes and procedures for all law enforcement agencies.
Sections of the guide include: Organizational Considerations, Documentation, Storage Facilities, Property & Evidence Handling Procedures, Audits & Inventories, Property Disposition & Purging, Legal & Regulatory Issues, and Automation. As a "live" document, this online guide will be updated periodically as legislative changes occur. In addition, property and evidence management will be impacted by local practices and procedures.
Also included: Table of Contents links to help navigate, links to California Property & Evidence Codes by category (see Chapter 8), a glossary of terms, useable sample forms, and a link to State recommendations on DNA testing.
